Fall is on the way...at least in my crafting world

When you live in the desert where the summers are hot and hotter you count down the days for cooler temperatures and a little bit of fall feeling.
So I decided it`s time for that and started my fall crafting.
Only problem is I get scattered and start 10 projects at the same time and sometimes don`t finish them until next summer... :)

BUT I finished my burlap fall wreath which I adore and totally gets me into the spirit. And it looks really good at my door.

Kind of craving a pumpkin spice latte now...

In this spirit,
Happy Fall Feeling

52 week challenge

So I totally copied that from a friend but I love the idea and even more love the result.

The 52 week money challenge!

This is how it works: For 52 weeks you save money and you start with $1 in week 1, $2 in week 2, $3 in week 3...etc. until the last week you add $52.
And if you follow through you will just have saved over $1300 in that year without even noticing it.

And you know me everything has to have a pretty wrapping so here is my jar for my 52 week challenge.

So let`s get started!
Happy saving!

Family Day

Since it had been so hot in the past months here in the desert we couldn`t really do a lot of things on the weekends except staying inside or hanging out by the pool.

It seems that those times are finally over, because...FALL is on its way and with it temperatures are dropping.

So it was time again to have a family outing and one spot that has been on my list for the longest time was Ruby, AZ. A ghosttown with only 1 caretaker living there. I read about it first in a magazine and couldn`t believe that it was so close to home. And what could be more fun and exciting than  wandering through a ghosttown?
So today was the day. We packed our coolers with lunch and waters and off we went towards Ruby. The drive itself was quite interesting and adventurous on unpaved, windy roads with car-sick children in the back but when we got there all our expectations were fullfilled. It was the neatest little ghosttown with deserted buildings and a mine and there was even a lake with a huge white sandy beach.

Enjoy our pictures from our fun day and if you are in the area stop by Ruby and make some fun family memories.

Welcome to Ruby:

and of course:

Patriot Day

Last week Naiya`s school celebrated Patriot Day in honor of September 11.
This is what my sweet little girl had to say about September 11 and the heroes of our country and her own hero.

Love that sweet girl with the big heart who cares soo much about everyone around her.

I am proud to be her Mom!

Who knew.....

...it would be so hard to send your lil guy to school???

Calan is having the hardest time in his new school and therefore so do I :(
He doesn`t like to go and every morning the first words when he wakes up are: I don`t want to go to school.
And he cries when I drop him off...not the loud screaming, just the silent tears dropping from his big blue eyes and it BREAKS my heart. I just wanna cry with him but try to be strong for him.

And there is no specific reason why he doesn`t want to go.His teacher says he is doing great and once he is there it`s all good.

I think he is just not used to so many kids and so much noise around him and it`s just all too much for my shy guy...

Hoping that soon he will feel better about it, because that is one of the hardest thing as a Mom: letting your kid go even though you know they are not happy.

First Run

As I posted not too long ago running season has officially started. Yesterday. With the Saguaro 8 mile run.
I have to admit I really don`t like this run. It`s very hard with only hills, lots of up and downs and I don`t really enjoy it. But I guess my competitive side comes out becasue this is already the 3rd year I am doing it and as much as I suffer during the run, I just L-O-V-E the feeling when I am done. So happy, so relieved...totally on a runners High!

Yesterday was a bit easier since it was cloudy and it rained a bit and that helped with the temperature and the sweating.

Here is a picture of us after the run and I really wish we had taken one before. Oh well...

Next run: LAS VEGAS! Gotta go train hard now.

Enjoy your run or whatever you are doing!

Taekwondo

Hello hello, happy new week :)

I wanted to post some pictures of Calan in his new Taekwondo Uniform. He just started a couple of weeks ago and is sooo into it.
He explained to me very seriuos that the belt can never touch the ground (what do I know...) and that he cannot wear the uniform outside of Taekwondo class.

I get a kick out of it but I am glad he loves it...so far... :)

Enjoy!
